More Proverbs

As I wrote last week, the book of Proverbs in the Old Testament is absolutely wonderful. It contains an immense amount of distilled godly wisdom, that speaks to our hearts and to our minds.

We can get useful proverbs from other sources, too. Just for one week, here's some wisdom that God has shown me from sources outside scripture. Here are a few I gleaned from my time in the world of computers:

If all else fails, read the instructions

It's not hard to apply that to the Christian life, is it? When our life just doesn't seem to be working out, check that we're living according to the Bible.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it

If you're doing what God wants, don't stop until he tells you.

Nothing is impossible to the man who hasn't got to do it

Before you tell your brother in Christ how he should fix his life, consider the possibility that it's not as easy as it seems to you. Also consider your failure to fix your own life. Matthew 7v3-5.

Garbage in - garbage out

Be careful what you read, watch and listen to. What you take in will come out again, some time.

And I thought I'd write a few of my own:

If you pick a fight with God, you'll lose; He's bigger than you are

There are idiots everywhere, so watch out

Each one of us is his own worst enemy

Obedience to God is always more blessed than disobedience

Keep going, it makes more sense than giving up
